WEIGHING THE MAYOR OF HIGH WYCOMBE

A town in the United Kingdom named High Wycombe adopted a corruption tool in 1678 for public officials. This includes weighing the Mayor of the town and his officials every year in public to check if they have been growing fat on tax payers money.
The crowd would boo and throw rotten fruits and tomatoes at the officials who have increased weight.
This tradition is still in practise although weight is no longer a factor for electing officials.
