History literature mentions three dogs who ruled at a point in Scandinavia during the Vikings era.
One of which was Saurr.
When King of Oppland, King Eysteinn, conquered Trondheim, he made his son Onund their king but the people killed him.
This angered him so much that in retaliation, he conquered them again and sent Saurr the dog this time around to rule them in place of his murdered son.
Saurr ruled them for about three years, signing decrees with his paw and sitting on the throne wearing a royal collar.
Saurr was killed by a pack of wolves three years later.
