When John P. Harris wrote an article in 1968 in response to the international women's day celebration, he pointed out a need to celebrate men also.
In the early 90's, Director of the Mosspuri centre for men's studies, Thomas Oaster, invited some organisations in Malta, America and Australia for an international men's day event in february but stopped after interest in attendance started to dwindle.
In 199, Jerome Teelucksingh, a history lecturer from the University of West Indies in Trinidad and Tobago, revived the tradition of the celebration of international men, choosing November 19th, which coincided with his father's birthday, as the date to mark the celebration.
International men's day celebrates men and the issues they go through around the world.
