HISTORY OF INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY CELEBRATION

The international Women's day celebration was made official by the United Nations in 1975 when they started celebrating it and March 8th was set aside for the celebration.
In 1910, German women's rights activist, Clara Zetkin called for an international women's day at the international conference of working women in Copenhagen to promote the rights of women in the society.
 In attendance were about 100 women from 17 countries and they were all in agreement.
In 1911, it was first celebrated in Germany, Austria, Denmark and Switzerland
